Naam Jap Tricks #4
Naam Jap Tricks #4

We need to train the mind to believe that nothing is more important right now than taking the name of the Lord. Taking the Lord’s name is not only about speaking it aloud. It can be done in four ways:

  1. By speaking it clearly,

  2. By whispering it softly,

  3. By feeling it in the heart,

  4. By chanting from the stomach or navel, where the breath begins.

The last way is the most powerful because it engages the whole body. We should slowly learn to stay absorbed in the Lord’s name.

Now, how can we go deeper into this practice? Chanting aloud is easy, but the mind often drifts. We want the mind to stay fixed on the name. To do this, we can create moments that force the mind to focus. When we face danger, our attention becomes sharp. We can use this same idea in practice.

Try doing difficult asanas that demand full focus of mind and body. During these poses, chant with each breath. Then the tongue, mind, and body will all take the name together. Picture yourself holding a tough asana like Mayurasana. As you wait for the last few seconds to pass, softly say “Radha Radha.” You will speak from your heart and soul. That feeling will stay with you.

Chanting while doing asanas and breathing with awareness is a powerful way to strengthen naam jap. Try it and share your experience in the comments below.
